The Journal of a Bra Shop

Monday

______________

At this time of year every day means another delivery. Exploding boxes of huge fluffy dressing gowns, delicate tissue paper parcels of silk, deep seductive colours of emerald green, blood rich burgundy and inky blues descend on the shop en mass. Finding room for all the winter delights re ignites the familiar fear; 'I have ordered too much!'

Tuesday

______________

An incredibly enjoyable part of a new season is re merchandising the shop. We move from bright and light to dark and cocooning. Nothing says 'coorie in' than a pile of thick Falke socks, a deep fur throw and a hot water bottle. Add a sprinkle of candles and autumn foliage and suddenly Halloween is around the corner followed hot on the heels by the 'C' word!

Wednesday

______________

The Girls and I feel that September is far too early for the 'C' word (Christmas for clarification!). However, we do have plans and lists to start working through to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We keep in touch with customers who have requested a 'Bravado Gift'. This way we can ensure that everyone gets the sizes and colours that they need with fewer disappointments on the BIG DAY.

Thursday

______________

Waking up in the dark is becoming more natural. Working out what to wear, less so. A cold dark morning does not equate to a jumper and boot wearing day. The Girls and I are struggling with our wardrobe and are actually looking forward to a firmly established season.

Friday

______________

The approaching weekend means less fluffing and more moving of stock. We all need to remember what has been put where and be ready for that really unusual request that inevitably comes at this time of the year. Nothing can be more infuriating than recalling the location of the bedsocks after the customer has left.

Saturday

______________

Saturday is not a day for admin. It is one of our favourite days of the week in the shop. A crazy busy day can give such a buzz. We really get to test the stock that has arrived; nothing is more satisfying than watching your purchases fly out the door; followed by the distressing thought 'I haven't ordered enough'.

With love THE GIRLS at Bravado
